Mark Nelson

Despite having only been performing comedy since 2005, Mark Nelson has firmly established himself on the comedy circuit by scooping the coveted Scottish Comedian of the Year title in 2006. His mix of dark humour, cutting observations and clever one-liners mean Nelson has become a solidly consistent and excellent stand-up to be reckoned with. His talents are so highly thought of he charted at number 62 in The List magazine's 100 Hottest Scottish Stars of 2006.

Mark, 26, triumphed at the inaugural Scottish Comedian of the Year competition in September last year at a showcase event in Glasgow 's Old Fruitmarket in front of an esteemed panel of judges and an audience of over 300. In winning the contest he had to see off the efforts of comedians with vastly more experience and following from around the country.

With an effortless, likeable manner on stage and confident delivery, Nelson often has audiences laughing at things they know they really shouldn't be laughing at. He has recently performed his first ever one man show at the Glasgow Comedy Festival, a show which sold out 3 weeks in advance. He has also recently supported Andrew Maxwell (at his sold out Glasgow show and Mark Steel.

"You'll want to see what the all the fuss is about. A remarkably accomplished stage manner with wonderfully crafted gags. Mark Nelson possesses a talent that is simply obscene." The List

"A viciously sharp sense of timing" Metro

"Has the energy to invigorate a sluggish room with smartly written material which belies his lack of stage time" Chortle
