On The Fringe, Southport
On The Fringe is more than just a great pub. Based at The Shakespeare, it is Southport’s first pub venue to showcase live music, theatre, comedy, poetry and workshops all under one roof.
Part of this wide mix of entertainment will be the introduction of live stand-up comedy shows to the venue.
In direct partnership with the On The Fringe, we are both proud and excited to announce that 'The Shakespere' will be playing host to our 'Laughterhouse Comedy On The Road' comedy extravaganzas.
These shows will follow the same tried and trusted formula as our hugely successful Liverpool-based comedy clubs and will feature a headline compére and three headline-quality acts, many of whom you will recognise from their various TV appearances.
The Shakespeare is one of Southport’s largest and most famous pubs and has been an integral part of the local community for many years. The building itself has been a well known landmark within Southport for over 100 years and the traditional feel and welcoming atmosphere have meant it has always been a popular destination in the town.
Located on the corner of Scarisbrick New Road, the venue has a number of different areas with seating, comfortable sofas, roaring fires and wide screen TVs throughout. Upstairs there is a 100-seat theatre, bar and studio while downstairs there is a large bar area, plenty of seating areas, a piano and couches. There are also two separate rooms downstairs, to the front of the pub, which provide a great place to unwind, sit by a homemade fire and enjoy a well-earned drink.
